‘Stories 4 Women’ Receives Recognition at Festival
July 22nd, 2011 by Ashley
“Stories 4 Women: a collection of true short stories” earned an honorable mention in the genre-based category in the 2011 Hollywood Book Festival competition. The genre-based category is the largest category for judging, and only 5 percent of books entered are recognized. Winners will be honored at a gala awards dinner on July 22 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
“We’re all really excited about the honor. We couldn’t be more pleased,” said co-author Mary Scott. “We love our book; we’re happy that someone else has seen some value in it.”
Co-author Ashley M. Ratcliff added, “When we heard that our first published book had received an honorable mention, we were taken aback that we fared so well among these high-caliber entries. We are beyond grateful and we hope that many more will learn about ‘Stories 4 Women’ because of it.”
The book festival, which aims to spotlight literature worthy of further consideration by the entertainment industry, will take place on July 23 at Space 15Twenty, located at 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Los Angeles.
‘Stories 4 Women’ Book Launch Party
May 13th, 2011 by Ashley
We hosted a launch party on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Neptunian Woman’s Club in Manhattan Beach, Calif., to celebrate the official release of the book. We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout, as more than 100 family members, friends, colleagues and even a few strangers were in attendance. After our guests mingled and enjoyed the selection of hors d’oeuvres, our good friend and musician Racquel Roberts introduced us, and we read excerpts from “Stories 4 Women.” Mary read from “And don’t call me ‘Girly’,” Amy from “My own,” Rebecca from “Full circle” (there was not a dry eye in the house) and Ashley from “Thank heaven for him.” Overall, it was a time of joy, warmth and laughter, and we’re so grateful that the event was a success. We hope to upload video clips from the launch party, so be on the look out for that.
Authors’ Meeting of the Minds: Planning the Launch
May 11th, 2011 by Ashley
We were so excited to finally have copies of “Stories 4 Women” in our hands, and we knew we had to do something grand to get the word out that our first book was here. A book launch party was a must, we decided. Here are some photos of us planning one of the most important events for the book in November 2010. A lot of good came from it, which you will see in the launch party photos. Stay tuned for those!
