“Stories 4 Women: a collection of true short stories” earned an honorable mention in the genre-based category in the 2011 Hollywood Book Festival competition. The genre-based category is the largest category for judging, and only 5 percent of books entered are recognized. Winners will be honored at a gala awards dinner on July 22 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
“We’re all really excited about the honor. We couldn’t be more pleased,” said co-author Mary Scott. “We love our book; we’re happy that someone else has seen some value in it.”
Co-author Ashley M. Ratcliff added, “When we heard that our first published book had received an honorable mention, we were taken aback that we fared so well among these high-caliber entries. We are beyond grateful and we hope that many more will learn about ‘Stories 4 Women’ because of it.”
The book festival, which aims to spotlight literature worthy of further consideration by the entertainment industry, will take place on July 23 at Space 15Twenty, located at 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Los Angeles.
